Cactus Bowl in play?

Pac-12 has the following bowl game tie-ins, yes outside of playoffs, and SIX bowl eligible teams:

1. Rose Bowl (New Year’s Six)
2. Valero Alamo Bowl vs. Big 12
3. National University Holiday Bowl vs. Big Ten
4. Foster Farms Bowl vs. Big Ten
5. Hyundai Sun Bowl vs. ACC
6. Las Vegas Bowl vs. Mountain West
7. Motel 6 Cactus Bowl vs. Big 12

Washington was #5 in CFP rankings before last night's thrashing of #23 WSU. Ohio State and Michigan play each other and will end up with one with 2 loss teams. Strong odds Washington gets in.

As of today, MWC has 5 as of today with likely Hawaii win over UMASS making it 6.

Bottom line, I DO NOT WANT Poinsettia so banking on Las Vegas or Cactus Bowl for SDSU.

Some Basketball Thoughts

Some of my thoughts are whines as well.
In November, I don't need to hear over and over again about RPI and Savannah State University. We scheduled them, we played them and Ziegler's column in the UT (I love Mark's articles) was annoying. The season is not just about getting to the NCAA, it is about the journey. Enjoy the Maui Classic, league games, players growing and winning as much as possible...these are things I love about Aztec basketball.
Ted Leitner's interview with Max after last Monday's game was horrible. I don't need to hear about a story that involves Bobby Knight and himself, what I want to listen to is how is Max's physical condition, how has he adjusted to Aztec basketball and maybe even a question about his relationships with other team members. Ted is always about Ted.
Dakari is a terrific defender, but of all the Aztecs in the past couple of years, he has the worst ability to finish a drive than even O'Brien or Shepard. He has no lift, no explosion on his drives and he can't shoot a lick from the outside (no jumper).
Max is and is going to be a super player for this team this year and beyond. He battles, scores and checks his man very well.
Malik, please play closer to the basket and take the 2 point jumper...you are deadly from within the arc and simply average from beyond.
Zylan, you could be the best of all three with a jump shot. Practice, practice, practice it everyday.
Shrigs is a senior and his on again off again shooting should be expected but keep shooting. You understand what you bring and when you hit several shots in a game, we generally win.
Teki needs to work on his jump shot as well, but he could become a real weapon as he readjusts to playing again...finishing should be a talent for him.
Hemsley needs to be able to drive to the left more and his crossover dribble would help.
Trey is a beast most of the time...he defends hard and is willing to rebound.
Valentine will offer no offense whatsoever unless he can keep the ball above his head. When he dribbles, he loses possession more times than not. He is still a valuable player especially against bigs from other clubs.
Again, Norain will get little time and in practice he needs to bulk up, get better lift on his shots and learn to dribble with both hands.
D'Eryell tries very hard and he will be able to offer some defense if any of our guards get in foul trouble.
The team looks good and could be an all timer! Everything depends so much on whether Malik can play down low and score the ball from close in, otherwise we have no inside game. Zylan is not the guy unless he is able to clear himself on a drive. Go Aztecs and keep competing hard!

Quick notes

Senior linebacker Austin Wyatt Thayer was suspended for the Colorado State game for a violation of team rules. He will play this week in the championship game.

Randy Ricks didn't do the senior walk because they expect him to win the appeal to return next year. Na'Im McGee also didn't do the senior walk because they wouldn't let him use the scooter on the wet field and he was already with all the injured players/redshirt freshman at midfield. There's also a chance he may return if he wins an appeal.

Ryan Dunn's foot still hasn't healed but trainers think he should be closer to playing this week. His foot injury wasn't upgraded to a lis franc but some pain is still lingering.

Coach Long said he regrets not going for it on the 4th and 1 that CSU returned for a score on the punt return.

Host game

Anderson hasn't updated its ratings yet but here are the other three considered. This is all moot if Wyoming loses at UNM on Saturday. Boise State would host if that's the case.

Wyoming: 41
SDSU: 46

Colley
Boise St.: 7
Wyo: 35
SDSU: 43

Wolfe
Boise St.: 12
Wyo: 37
SDSU: 44

Anderson (last week)
Boise St.: n/a (11)
Wyo: n/a (45)
SDSU: n/a (36)

Final (minus Anderson ratings)

As things stand now Wyo will host the title game.

What's the Recruiting Status on These Players?

LB Patrick Macon (6'3 and 235 lbs)......Currently with 57 solo tackles, 60 assisted tackles, 9 sacks, 27.5 tackles for loss, 9 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 INT, and 6 pass deflections

LB Ezekiel Noa (6'1 and 220 lbs)

Our O Line play

We've been beaten at the L.O.S. Pretty much all game long twice this year. I'm concerned because USA smacked us two years in a row. Are we gonna let a bunch of Pokes smack us twice IN TWO WEEKS?!?!

I still don't understand how USA got us twice And it seems like we still don't have the answer ourselves, based on us losing twice.

Am I the only one thinking this?
