So social media is buzzing about New Mexico assistant Terrence Rencher who got into it against CSU players before, during and especially AFTER the game tonight.

Ruben, what do we know about the big offensive tackle from Iowa Western Junior College?
I understand he is a red shirt freshman, so if he graduates this Spring he will have three to play three.
I've heard he has offers from Steven F. Austin and Fresno State and an official visit on the 27th with Florida Atlantic, yet he is most interested in playing for either Oregon State or San Diego State.

I'm all for offering super athletes and finding a roll for them. Hope he's a solid defensive guy, cuz I could see him being a DB or even LB. how'd he go unnoticed for so long? Who else is on him? I like that he coming during the commit heavy visit.

To say there is parity in MWC this year would be understatement.

I know the talk these days is that these games don't matter (and they don't) but I would like to see a dominant win at some point against a conference opponent just to have some comfort knowing my stay in Vegas won't be cut extra early this year. Nevada is a two-point favorite and Tim Williams effectiveness earlier this week doesn't bode all too well for the Cameron Oliver matchup tonight.

Aztec BB is going through a tough year …. If this team can get healthy and Pope returns to form displayed late last season, this team can be a threat in the MWC tourney (if we win, we will still be a crappy seed). In my view the team has three issues:

1. Lack of leadership/identity;
2. Lack of a true PG and short-comings in recruiting - Zabo would not have been the answer ( transferred and is coming off the bench at Kent St). Hemsley and Kell are SG rather than PG/play-makers.
3. Lack of a consistent low post threat/rebounder.

Maybe Watson fixes the PG issue next year but we still have a hole in the PF/C position to complement ZC and we didn’t sign a big for 2017/18. Too early on determining any impactful (Josh Davis type) 5th transfer guys, but are there any JC guys on our radar?

I am not going to complain about Fisher ….. what he has done for this program speaks for itself and the court is named after him and rightfully so. I wonder if Fisher has it in the tank to continue going after this year and my question is should Dutcher have been named the coach in waiting? Ultimately, Dutcher is our guy, but Fisher brought so much to the table with his track record and is Dutcher going to be able to build on what Fisher has created or pull a Ted Tollner on us?

Unfortunately we didn't land anyone on the all bowl team but SDSU received an A- for our season.

OL Isaiah Flanagan announced his decommitment this morning. I'll gather more info but just know that there are still a lot of under the radar OL prospects out there that SDSU is considering down the stretch.

SJSU is coming off a win over Fresno State where Rodney Terry basically sealed it for them when he was called for two technicals to end the game.

They'll have a two game lead over SDSU if they can pull off the upset, but the Aztecs are 13 point favorites.

I have seen a lot of comments indicating this is the best recruiting job done by Rocky so far and recruiting has improved every single year. so I thought I would spend some time to test this hypothesis.

while there is a lot of controversy about how to evaluate players, the star system is something I will use even though Rocky Long is not a big fan of this understandably. But remember Donnell Pumphry was a 3 star player this has some validity. I know there were plenty of no star players who outdid their 3 star brethren, but this analysis really helps guide me to see if things are significantly improving.

I should point out SDSU usually loses one or two of the top recruits at the end of the season. so 2015 and 2016 were lowered because of the losses. no adjustment was made for 2017 because it is not know yet who if any of the commits will flip away from SDSU.

While 2017 recruiting season is far from over, I will use average the above average players signed to date over total commitments.

2015- ignoring Desean Holmes who washed out, 37% of recruits were either 3 or 4 star
2016- 40% of the recruits were 3 star recruits. no 4 star recruits that year
2017- 31% of the recruits to date were rated 3 stars or better.

So the coaches will have to finish very strong to get to the levels reached in 2015 and 2016.

He really wouldn't do that would he? I don't know if he wants to be considered or not
but I played golf here yesterday. I know you can't do that in Minnesota.
