Marvelle Harris is going to get his points tonight. He's capable of an explosion so it wouldn't surprise me if we see more of Dakarai than usual to keep the lid on the pot.

But I think the hidden key is how effectively we keep Karachi Edo off the offensive glass. He's a very thick 6'6" and with a neck, he'd be 6'9". He's 11th in the nation in offensive rebounding, and 1st in the MW. He had 9 against us in our OT win at Viejas. We have struggled for years with wide-bodied rebounders. If he has a monster game and is able to consistently add possessions, that will have a big impact on our chance of winning tonight.

Although his home wasn't broken into and ransacked, Malik Smith posted a video earlier today showing that his passenger side window was smashed open and his car speakers and radio were stolen. His passenger side mirror also appeared to be cracked. That's two incidents in just over a month involving student-athletes.

Last year, they lost to Air Force, which sent them spiraling to 8 losses in a row. Their team is way better this year * and coaches careers are built or destroyed by their response to adversity. Craig Neal allowed himself to be "demoralized" - not his team - by what was, in hindsight, a bad call at SDSU. Let's see if he can pull the crew together and get everybody rowing in the same direction to avoid another devastating streak.

* Tim Williams is a tough, strong kid with an equally strong game. Elijah Brown is Newcomer of the Year in our conference (if it's not Williams). We shut down Cullen Neal, but we shut down a lot of good players; he's a decent leader, and his injury was a key to their collapse last year.

What a great write up on the new linebacker recruit, Himphill. Even his head shot looks impressive! He seems extremely motivated to do well, and has a great role model in Munson. This guy could be very special indeed!

It was also nice hearing about Munsons work ethic. It was no accident he is a great linebacker!

Ruben have you heard anything about a coach or 2 receiving offers from other schools or does it look like the staff will remain intact?

I'm not looking to drum up sales we do about $1.2 billion for Valentines. Just posting in case you might want to save some money.

So it looks like Fisher is going to have to do some un-Fisher like things. The Aztecs need to start blowing out teams and keep their foot on the pedal when they can. They are currently 12/13 seeds at 11-0 in conference and their next 5 opponents can't do anything but hurt our standing. A couple of 30 point differentials would help their cause with the number crunchers as their offensive numbers look terrible. A loss to any of the next 5 teams dooms the Aztecs chances for an at-large bid IMO. That means starting 16-0 with an @New Mexico and hosting UNLV to end the season.

The only good thing I could see in Lunardi's published numbers is the Aztec probability of getting to the Sweet 16 went from 8% last week to ~17% this week. That could indicate he's about to move them off the 12 line up to the 11 line which is the Mendoza line for deserving a spot in the tourney without winning their conference tournament. Used to subscribe to his service but no longer so can't see the underlying numbers.

For those that don't know, BSU somehow dropped another one at Air Force today.

A win for SDSU today over UNM would give the Aztecs a 3.5 game lead (over UNM) with seven games to play.

Whatever happened to Micah Seau? Before he made the switch to fullback last season, he looked the part of a solid defensive lineman capable of potentially cracking the two deep. Ruben, any chance he makes the switch back to the defensive side of the ball next season?

Let's let Ruben have a couple of days off for the SuperBowl and to take a break. Everyone needs time away even if they love what they do.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — UNLV junior guard Daquan Cook has been dismissed from the team.

Interim coach Todd Simon made the announcement on Friday, though no reason was given.

Cook was suspended for 13 games by previous coach Dave Rice in November after being arrested and charged with DUI.

Cook appeared in two games this season after being reinstated, scoring three points in four minutes. He missed the 2014-15 season after tearing his right ACL and played 28 games as a sophomore.

Really think we have a good chance of having 3 guys drafted this year and 2-4 more landing on rosters to start the season.

Always cool to watch these and gain more of an appreciation for departed guys like Christian Heyward in this case.

I'm curious how those of you who coach, played, or follow football closely feel about this recruiting class.

* Does this recruiting class help build our case for a move to a P5 conference?

* Is the class overfocused on linemen?

* Is anybody we whiffed on or who we added in the last week a difference maker one way or the other?

* The national recruiting sites have us in the mix for the best class in the MW, with several other MW schools right around our ranking. Is that accurate?

* Did this recruiting cycle improve the overall talent level in our conference relative to the P5 schools, or did the Big Boys create more distance?
