Juco Recruits

I'm starting this thread to discuss Juco basketball prospects in one place. I'm hopeful one or more of you will have some information on players we're recruiting.

Kavell Bigby-Williams is mentioned in another thread. He's a 6'10", 225 lb big at Gillette College in WY who is originally from London, England. Mature body. If you can believe what you read on the internet, looks like he was originally heading to Montana St as a 6'6" forward, so has obviously grown. Averaging nearly 17 pts and 14 boards for a team that's 26-1 and ranked 4th nationally. It's interesting to note that the 247 Sports composite doesn't have him listed as one of the top JC recruits in the nation. I have to believe they've whiffed on him, because he's receiving interest from good D1 programs, including SDSU, Texas, OK St, Wichita St and USC. Needs to be more physical on the boards, but seems legit to me.

Are any of you aware of other JC players we're targeting?

Sorta quiet around here....

Hope all is well with the new uncle and Ruben is getting some well deserved rest.
Not too much going on right now anyway. Some guy named Hirshman said something
about the future campus expansion possibilities. We're trying to find an experienced 7-4 center for the
basketball team who can score as well as defend. We're rehashing the optimism that spring football
generated. All in all though it's been rather quiet.

Next Year's BKBL Team

Reading the article in the UT it looks like we will be a better team next year. Everybody has been saying it so yeah, we need a shot blocker in the middle. We have three 6'9 guys coming in but they will be active outside as well as inside which will be good. Make it tougher to defend us. With 2 scholarships available I am sure the staff is actively seeking that guy. Go Aztecs!

Transfer Season

Now that basketball season is over and an abundance of transfers have announced they'll be leaving their current schools via ESPN, what position/positions does SDSU need to fill for next year? Who would be your top pics for transfers knowing what we have as of right now?

NIT semi: SDSU-GW

Starting the game thread up now. Players to be aware of are 6-8 Tyer Cavanaugh and streaky 6-6 Argentinian Patricio Garino. I'm betting either Allen or Shepard will be guarding Garino throughout the game. Expect to see SDSU post double the heck out of Cavanaugh too.

Center Kevin Larsen - another international player - is going to be a load for Spencer on the boards but he's pretty slow footed on defense and I expect SDSU to attack him from the start.

JMI West Campus and Stadium

For anyone interested the SDSU Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate is hosting the JMI team, including their architect, commercial development partner, and political consultant, for a breakfast presentation next Tues the 5th, 7:30, at the Prebys Aztec Center.

If I'm really lucky, I've attached the link here. If it didn't work, you can probably cut'n'paste into your browser.

Love to meet some of you at the presentation.

nit history

If my memory serves me right i believe the year the Aztecs played and lost to Syracuse a few years back, Syracuse went on to win the nit championship. The next year, I think they won the ncaa or placed in the final four. I think playing in the nit this year will benefit this team for next year. It will be good experience for the team. than a one and done in the ncaa.
That being said, I don't believe the Aztecs would have been one and done in the ncaa this year.

Georgia Tech

We don't match up as well with GT as we did with WA, at least in my opinion.

WA plays at a frenetic pace and the occasional turnover didn't kill us because we had so many possessions. GT, like us, is better on D than O. Our tendency to turn the ball over will cost us dearly if we don't protect.

The other thing that worries me is Winston decided he was the indispensable star again last night. He over dribbled and got away with it because WA didn't play good defense. He's our best player when under control, and we can't afford to have him on the bench because he tries to do too much.

You gotta love our athleticism, but our team would be much better if our penetrators were more adept at finding the open shooter outside.

I hope all of you are able to attend the game tomorrow. It will be electric. Again.
