Visits

Tennessee QB Zack Weatherly visited this past weekend and I believe he was actually at SDSU camp yesterday. I didn't get to watch him much but I will be speaking with him about it sometime soon. I also have a list of guys that stood out to me yesterday.

An upcoming visitor will be Chandler CB Kyree Woods. He'll likely visit early next week if not this weekend. He was on of the top corners I saw during the passing league. I can picture him committing.

WR

Who's gunna step up and be the guy? Judge seemed like he could be, Mills has the spark but lacked consistency, and I just haven't seen much from anyone else. We have the talent at TE, but we need at least 1 WR to step up and bail out our QB. Who will it be?

I'm hoping Clewis or Holder can step up.

On another note, is Zac Brown still on the team?

USD

I'm actually really excited for this game now. We get a chance to see a lot of the young talent. W/ the suspensions, we need it, but it also lights a fire under the young guys who see the field to want to get back on it. I'm stoked to see the '15 and '14 guys out there. Hopefully Holmes and Tezino live up to the hype.

Any Plans for Games in the Lone Star State?

Hi Ruben,

I just saw a update on one of my soc-media feeds. Apparently, Texas Tech and UTEP announced the continuation of their home-and-home series. That made me wonder if TT would make a similar arrangement with SDSU beyond the 2017 season? Considering all the Tejas recruiting that is being done by coach Horton, does the AD office have any plans to schedule games vs lone star teams? Games vs. TT or TCU (did MWC impose a moratorium?) or UH or SMU would help with current and future recruitment there, no?

Hey Ruben...

'tis the season, the summer football prognostications are flowing.
A couple of things jump out so far. First, we should be in the conference championship game. Second,
there is a current of thought that says if Rocky Long is going to move the program to the next level (double digit wins, finally beat a big guy) this is the year to do it. Third, everyone seems to like Darrell Greene but is he still
in the doghouse? Fourth, Everyone likes the defense but what about Dline depth? Does Phillips switch back to
defense? Fifth, and I know it's only summer, but are expectations too high?

One other thing, every year starting about this time, we get word of losing some players for whatever reason
and we pick up a few more. Any surprises either way on the horizon?
Thanx

Ron Smith

Still one of my favorite versatile athletes in SDSU's 2015 class, Ron Smith won a CIF state championship in the triple jump event on Saturday.

"St. Mary’s-Berkeley senior Ron Smith went 49-0¼ on his final try to overtake Stuart Hall senior Drew Xandrine-Anderson (48-11¾) in the boys triple jump.

Smith, a fluid 6-foot-2, 180-pound athlete who will play football at San Diego State next fall, said he just closed and said to himself: “This is my final triple jump ever. I want to finish on top. … My coach always tells us that above all, it’s all about heart. That it just takes one. I’m just thankful I did it.”

Source.

Smith has consistently been a top-five triple-jumper this track season and he made his best, legal jump of his career.
