Logan Gamble....

SDSU was the second offer for Long Beach (Calif.) St. Anthony ATH (WR/DE) Logan Gamble this spring and the Aztecs currently sit in a good spot with him. He comes from a very small high school which doesn't get much recruiting attention often but a lot of schools are now stopping by to see Gamble and his teammate, Curtis Weaver, who SDSU has also offered and was actually his second offer as well. That's a big note because Weaver was even more unknown than Gamble and so views him as his little brother who he's extremely proud of. The plan is for them to go to college together, and both have offers from SDSU and have already visited the campus (both visits to SDSU were their first ever "unofficials" but both have never visited the school together. The plan is for them to visit together in the next few weeks. Don't expect a commitment(s) to happen but SDSU can take a big lead considering not many schools have offered both Gamble and Beaver.

It's also worth noting that, as it stands now, Gamble plans to use official visits on SDSU, Nevada, Fresno State and Washington State. The official visits will have the most weight in his mid-season college decision.

SDSU Football and Stanford to Start Series in 2017

Aztecs to play host to Cardinal in 2017 before traveling to Stanford in 2018

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State and Stanford have agreed to start a home-and-home series in football beginning in 2017, the two schools announced Tuesday.

The Aztecs and Cardinal will first play at Qualcomm Stadium on Sept. 16, 2017 with the return game slated for Sept. 1, 2018 in Stanford, Calif.

SDSU will play at least one Pac-12 school in every season through the 2022 campaign, all home-and-home series. After playing Oregon State each of the past two years (2013-14), San Diego State will begin a home-and-home series with California on Sept. 12 in Berkeley (also 2016 at Qualcomm Stadium). The Aztecs are also slated to play a series with Arizona State (2017 in Tempe, 2018 at Qualcomm Stadium), a home-and-home with Stanford (2017 at Qualcomm Stadium, 2018 in Stanford), a series with UCLA (2019 in Los Angeles, 2020 at Qualcomm Stadium) and finally a series with Arizona (2021 in Tucson, 2022 at Qualcomm Stadium).

SDSU and the Cardinal have met four times with Stanford owning a 3-1 series advantage. The last meeting was a 31-10 win by the Cardinal on Sept. 17, 1988 in Stanford, Calif.

Stanford is coming off an 8-5 season, including a 5-4 record in the Pac-12. The Cardinal won its final three games of the season, culminating with a 45-21 victory over Maryland in the Foster Farms Bowl at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

San Diego State and Stanford are the only two teams from California - FBS or NFL - to advance to the postseason each of the past five years.

The Aztecs, who are one of 27 schools to play in a bowl game each of the last five seasons and one of just three from the “Group of 5” conferences, finished 2014 with a 7-6 record and 5-3 in MW play. SDSU returns eight starters on a defense that finished the year with national ranks of 10th in passing, 13th in scoring, 16th in total and 19th in pass efficiency, as well as running back Donnel Pumphrey, who rushed for a school-record 1,867 yards and 20 touchdowns as a true sophomore, on offense.

San Diego State kicks off the 2015 season at home against San Diego on Sept. 5.

Deposits for new season tickets are currently underway and can be secured by calling the Aztec Ticket Office at (619) 283-7378 or online at GoAztecs.com.

Addidas Gauntlet

Steve Fisher and Brian Dutcher are in Dallas at the Addidas Gauntlet event watching targets such as 2016 F Nolan Narain, 2016 F Brendan Bailey, 2016 F Vance Jackson, 2017 PG Jaylen Hands, 2016 G Johnny McWilliams, 2015 PG Marcus LoVett, and 2018 F Taeshon Cherry.

I'd imagine an assistant or two are in Virginia for the Nike EYBL to watch prospects like 2017 C Brandon McCoy.

If not in Virigina, 2016 guards Justin Moore and Bryce Peters and 2018 PF Miles Norris are competing in Anaheim.
