Injury updates

Alex Barett disloacted his shoulder in the second quarter. Dakota Turner moved up for him and SDSU has 3-4 DE's that will backup Turner (Rochelin, Tai, Cheathum etc.). Barrett is expected to miss one week (vs. UNLV).

Randy Ricks will also miss the UNLV game after a turf toe. He should return by next week on Monday.

Turner Bernard suffered an ACL but the plan is to rehab his knee and hold off on surgery to see if he can return around 3-4 weeks. If not, he'll just have surgery and return to the team next summer.

Note

Turner Bernard did indeed suffer an ACL injury. He will have an MRI tomorrow to see how serious it is.

In case you didn't notice during the Chapman-Bawden fumble, Ryan Pope and Daishawn Dixon were on the line in their jumbo package with Dixon, Brunskill, Miller, Salcedo, Flores, Rosales and Pope, with Wells lined up at H-back.

You gotta think the staff gives Pope a good hard look for starting next week vs. UNLV (who beat Fresno 45-20 tonight and has a offense dangerous of burning this Aztecs defense for the fourth straight week).

BB

QB Blake Barnett is leaving Alabama. He was a very good dual threat at Corona Santiago and SDSU will definitely be in the mix. I made it pretty clear through the fall that they are in dire need of talent/depth. Apparently, he would be eligible to start playing after the fourth game next season. He'll have to take care of some junior college classes but it's very possible.

Football odds vs USA

Aztecs open as 17.5 favorites.

USA survived their game at home last night vs Nichols State when Nichols State decided to go for 2 instead of tying in OT.

Really curious to see how Aztecs Defense plays after getting some much needed rest and hopefully some fine tuning. USA doesn't have the weapons in the air and will try to run it against SDSU. However, even NIU had success in the air so really looking for Secondary to NOT get burned for big plays.

Fully expect SDSU to have a big night pounding the ball and gaining big yards on the ground.

Any Basketball Updates?

I am a season ticket holder for both football and basketball and would love to have any stories available on our upcoming basketball team? How are the transfers working with our returning players? Do either freshman big men have a chance of helping us this year? Anything about the five new players we have? Anything at all would be of great interest to me.
I love all the football stuff and I know this is their season, but basketball is only 6 weeks away! Go Aztecs...
