Bryson Cain

What he did during his junior season is incredibly impressive for his size and he looks like the prototypical right tackle (or either guard spot) in SDSU's system. I think he would be one of the standout gets for the Aztecs coaching staff in this class considering his upside and level of recruitment. I think there's enough mutual interest between him and SDSU, along with the Pac-12 (including his two P12 offers) having skepticism about his size, that Coach Schmidt has a legitimate shot to sign him. First things first is the staff will have to convince his parents to keep him closer to home and then I think it can get interesting.

Cain adds SDSU offer.

Hey, Ruben...

Every year about this time we see some people we didn't expect a) depart, b) come in.
We know about Dunlap and Boesch no longer on the team. do you anticipate any other departures?
Any clue as to walkons?
One other thing, do you think Darrell Greene will be with the team, really? I know he has been suspended
but is there more to this story?
Thanx

Basketball note

Was at the double pumps summer tip-off today, and the quality level was pretty low. That's not a surprise considering most of the top events going on are out east at this time (Under Armour, Nike EYBL, Addidas Invitational/Gauntlet etc).

The majority of the staff (Fisher/Hutson) are in the south tracking guys like Brandon McCoy, DeAnthony Melton, Ben Koné and Jordan Ford at Nike Peach Jam (South Carolina) as well as Brendan Bailey, Jaylen Hands, Johnny McWilliams, Vance Jackson and Christian Popoola at the Adidas Gauntlet (Georgia).

Nolan Narain, Brandon Cyrus and Marquell Fraser are in Indiana for the Adidas invitational (and I believe Dutcher is there).

Out here in California, Dave Velasquez was at double pumps. Bryce Peters, Justin Moore, Alize Travis, Chris Seeley and Richard Polanco were playing (along with Lonzo Ball and his brothers). I believe he's also at the Elite 100 camp with local prospects like Miles Norris, Taurus Samuels and a bunch of other younger prospects.

Neither MJ Cage or Trevor Stanback are playing this weekend.

TE depth chart

What is our TE depth chart, specifically in passing situations? I'm in a fantasy league and I know the rest of the league will sleep on our TEs, but I know Horton will use them this year. I know Brunskill has proved himself, but I gotta think Wells/Richardson can step it up in the catching game, right?

Tyson Maeva

Just an update on the Cathedral linebacker. He's visiting Boise State in late June but he'll also be on SDSU's campus during the second weekend of the Aztecs passing tournaments. It sounds like Coach Zach Arnett and Rocky Long are really on him hard. Maeva attended SDSU's local junior day earlier this spring but the staff also had him visit again a few weeks later to go more in depth on the defense and how he would be used. He also even bumped into President Hirshman during that visit.

Stanford is on him and I get the feeling that would be his top choice. The Arizona schools are also on him a bit and want him to camp at their schools. As it stands now, though, it's likely between Boise and SDSU. I think the Aztecs have a good shot at beating this one out since he's a local kid who went to games growing up and how he fits in the defense.

He wants to decide before his senior season.

DL football recruiting

Looks like we're really looking for JC dlinemen for next year. Here's a few guys who need to be priorities, especially King. Also, any serious buzz between us and Parks, Christmas, Tucker, and/or Garcia? I think these fellas are p12 level, under-the-radar types, that we should have a good shot at. Tough and explosive.

Richard Polanco

Story on the 17 year old from DR.

https://sandiegostate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1782152

He played with the nation's U19 team this summer (and he would have played with Karl Towns on that team if it wasn't for the draft).

Back when he was 12-13, baseball was a legitimate option for him and his 85 MPH fastball. I actually found this video of him on youtube from back in the day. Things have changed.
