Big news
Maxwell Smith is going back and forth on whether or not he wants to be a player-coach on the team (basically, a grad assistant) or actually play one last year. Rocky expects him to make a decision as soon as next week. He also said it doesn't have anything to do with Smith waiting to see how the QB battle plays out this spring.
Jake Rodrigues has decided to move on from football to pursue a career as a fire fighter like his father. He has a five year old son that he needs to provide for.
Kwayde Miller has a lower back injury and sat out practice. He's expected to miss a week or two of camp. Seems like a precaution deal. Ryan Pope took his place at left tackle and Joe Salcedo was the right tackle. Right guard was Nico Siragusa, center was Arthur Flores and left guard was Antonio Rosales
Departures
Freshman OL Pesi Savea quit the team last week.
Center Austin Maass will not play this spring and intends to graduate this semester.
Same deal with DL/FB Micah Seau, he will graduate this spring.
Same deal with DL Malcolm Jackson.
Injuries
WR Lloyd Mills will sit out the spring and the upcoming season in hopes of earning a medical waiver to play in fall of 2017. Rocky wouldn't specify his injury, just that Mills is "dinged up" from a variety of injuries.
DL Damon Moore will sit out spring. Not sure about his injury
OL Ryan Krum will sit out the spring. I believe he has an ankle/foot issue that he is rehabbing.
DL Dakota Turner will sit out the spring. He had knee surgery last season.
