I followed my own advice of 24 hour cooling period after SDSU's loss yesterday before posting. I'm heart broken at losing prospects of Cotton Bowl and do not want another Poinsettia Bowl trip. Meanwhile for larger perspective here is a long list of BOWL INELIGIBLE TEAMS:
* UCLA is 4-7 with one game left at Cal
* Cal is 4-7 with.......see above
* Arizona 2-9 with one game left vs ASU
* Oregon (4-7) and Oregon St (3-8) play each other is season's last game
* Notre Dame (4-7), one game left vs USC
* Virginia, Duke, Michigan State, Purdue, Illinois, Boston College, Tex Tech, UCON, Cincinnati
When you consider the financial backing and established football success, etc...................goes to show that consistently winning is extremely difficult. As I said in another thread, traditions and winning reputation take time. Hate games on Sat after Thanksgiving but even after loss yesterday, if we get 35K at the Q Saturday............I'll see it as a sign of progress and growth of a support base, critical to long term growth of the program. Wasn't that long ago that I sat in my seats for a Sat day game after Thanksgiving vs AFA (?) and there were about 8K in the stands.
Win or loose, GO AZTECS!!
