Media viewing of the basketball team's first practice just ended. I'll have lots of video up later but my quick hitter impressions:
-Figuring out the starting lineup will be a headache but there will be lots of versatile weapons to use in the rotation.
-Shirgley is no longer the team's only spot up shooter. Ceaser, Hoetzel and Narain can all knock it down
-There was a heavy emphasis on transition offense and defense today. They definitely plan to take advantage of the team's overall athleticsm.
-It's early, but based on pure athleticsm, there will be little drop off in terms of Spencer's rim protection with the addition of Izundu. He's slightly taller than Pope, is cut, can run the floor with a little bounce in his step instead of sloppily like most bigs these days, and his dunk range is insane. Not only does his head nearly hit the rim each time, he has freakish arms that allow him to dunk off two feet despite being a couple feet from the baskey.
-McDaniels is very long and has a ton of potential but based off today he seems like a clear redshirt candidate.
