Monday injury updates

Antonio Rosales' left ankle was taped and he was limping a bit on his left foot entering the field.

During practice, however, it looked like a significant limp when he was running. I personally didn't come away very confident with his ankle being able to hold up for Saturday. But you just know that with how much the coaches preach about toughness, he'll probably play through it.

Anyway, worst case scenario, I also noticed senior tackle Joe Salcedo lining up a bit at right guard. Maybe he will be the preffered backup for Rosales instead oft freshman Dominic Gudino or sophmore Nick Gerhard.

-Rashaad Penny had his right knee wrapped but he was going through drills fine. You could see a minor limp on his way in to practice though.

-Sergio Phillips also had his right knee wrapped but that still just may be from his pattellar contusion from last week. He practiced fine.

-Temerick Harper still has a boot on his left foot.

-Keoni Stallworth was in training shoes and didn't practice.

-WR Isaiah Richardson, FB Grady Vasquez, and DE Dakota Turner were with the injured group but looked pretty loose. Turner still has a brace.

The thrill of Aztecs of old has been rekindled

This thread is intended for you old timers who experienced the excitement of the Coryell era back in the 60s to early 70s.

The excitement of bursting on to the small college championship stage, The win over North Dakota State, the excitement of air Coryell, those football balls flying through the air, North Dakota State had never seen anything like that!
Those were thrilling times!

well, I'm feeling a déjà vu, all over again, moment! The parallels are that we are on the edge of bursting on to the big college stage in terms of getting recognition. The difference is we are doing it in an old school way by playing hard nose, running it down your throat type of football rather than the cutting edge aerial attack.

I get the sense that the mentality that Rocky has implanted in this team will not allow it to lose one of those games they should have won this season. Just a gut feeling.

If it's possible to run the table, and get into that bowl game around New Year's day, we could be in for another thrill ride. With the talent and depth we have now coupled to improved recruiting that comes from success, this could be something we can sustain.

That's kind of what I'm sensing right now, how about you?

Antonio Rosales

On SDSU's final run play of the game, it looked like Antonio Rosales hyper extended one of his legs at the end of the block. He was grabbing at his knee a bit. I'm not sure what happened after the fact yet.

I'll get an update with the coaches within the next two hours.

His backup could very well be....true freshman Dominic Gudino. That would be an extremely young line heading into Air Force.

But again, I'll get an update here soon.

Pumphrey Injury

Eagles rookie RB Donnel Pumphrey tore his hamstring in practice this week and is out indefinitely.

Pumphrey was a healthy scratch in Week 1 and wasn't going to play this week anyway, but this is a blow to his development process. Dubbed the "next Darren Sproles" like so many others before him, Pumphrey didn't look like he belonged in the NFL this preseason. The 5'9/176 satellite back will likely go on I.R
