Next up, Fresno State

So no time to waste, here comes the next big test. Fresno is 3–0 and leeds the West division of the conference. So how do the Aztecs respond? It was pretty stunning how Boise State exploited our weaknesses on both sides of the ball - not to mention special teams.

In terms of winning the conference, this is the most important game right now. Do they sulk about the loss, or do they learn from it and get fired up to win the conference. Your thoughts.

UA lands 2 commits

Martell Irby, (Morse HS) undersized do it all kind of guy, with decent offers, just committed to Arizona.

Thomas Marcus, rangy ATH from San Diego HS committed to UA too. Not highly recruited, didn't even hear of him until this year.

UA has a ton of local talent on their roster, always do. Are these two guys were missing out on, or just don't fit our style?

SDSU-Boise visitors

Heading up to the press box now but just spoke to a new secret commit that pulled the trigger last week at a position of need (OL). It's someone you never heard of yet probably so no guessing.

FYI, offensive linemen usually end up secret commits because it's hard for coaches to find under the radar prospects with talent at that position.

Chapman ...

... deserves a Purple Heart.

Dumb decision early, but I'll take him over somebody with a bigger arm most any day. That was possibly the worst performance by an Aztecs OL in recent memory. Chapman was active to the end and was accurate to 25 yards. That was with Broncos in his grill all night. He's lucky he walked away. They should rest him 'til next Thurs.

Yes, he didn't often find secondary receivers, but he barely had time to find the first option. Yes, he got jittery feet, but who wouldn't? Yes, he probably ran a little too early a couple times, but he pretty much knew the guy behind him was wearing the wrong color jersey.

He hit Trevillon in stride and should have had Warring. Both were nice throws and probably over 30 yards, weren't they?

If anyone is going to lead the team out of this bad loss, it's Christian Chapman. You achieve his W/L record as a starter by being a good quarterback.

What an absolute lack of activity on this board

Not sure if it's that there isn't anything to complain about. Everyone is nervous about a possible loss. Afraid they're going to jinx SDSU if they say something. Literally the traffic on here has been going down and down each week. Strange.

So hyped about this game I can hardly control myself. Want to see the Aztecs reach down and knock the snot out of the Blue balls from the north.

Ticket sales are better for this game than for NIU. They've even opened up sales of tickets into the upper level which is a good sign.

Wednesday updates (Boise week)

LT Tyler Roemer says his ankle still hurts but Rocky said it's not swollen at all. He-s been limited in practice either way because the trainers get the final say.

Since there is a chance Roener may not go Saturday, Ryam Pope has began taking some reps at left tackle (love this move).

Joe Salcedo is back to taking some reps at first team right tackle, where he started last week when Pope sat out (hand surgery).

Pope is exoected to play either tackle spots while wearing a club. He was cleared to play last Saturday but personally didn't feel ready.

The coaches are taking the same approach for Antonio Rosales this week in terms of practice, but he is definitely moving better this week -albeit today's practice was closed.

Rocky said Rosales he is not able to be as strong at the point of attack because it still hurts when he puts pressure on his ankle.

LB Ronley Lakalaka (ankle) is back to practicing fully again.

FB Nick Bawden (hand surgery) is fine and has practiced every day this week.

Isaac Lessard definitely set up his future at SDSU up with his performance against UNLV thoughh

2018 Recruits Remaining?

Thought I would start a recruiting thread... With 13 recruits on board, i figure we will have roughly 7 more spots left. That number could go up if any current commits were asked to greyshirt or a few guys left the program in the spring. There are always a couple guys who pop up on the recruiting radar late and are hot guys, but below is a few we already know about. Feel free to add others. Lastly, had heard Elijah Kothe broke his collar bone and will miss the remainder of the season and someone on the PPR last week said JR Justice got injured, but no clue on what or the severity.

QB (1)- Rumors of a greyshirt QB... Matt Struck? Jake Constantine? I would rather put the full court press on Oregon State commit Spencer Petras, who is huge and can make every throw. I personally would pass on QB unless Petras or someone like him were to commit.

RB (1)- Believe we have a spot for a bigger back. My preference is Greg Bell, who i think would be an impact guy next year. Chris Brown has struggled this year at El Camino and doesn't look as explosive at 215lbs. Danny Smith is having a much better senior year and appears to have more burst at 210lbs.

WR (1)- Seems we are poking around the JUCO ranks for a WR, which I think is a very good idea with the lack of underclassman at that position next year. A speed guy who can stretch the defense and return punts makes sense. Brandon Aiyuk may be one to keep an eye on. I would still save a spot for Ke'von Ahmad and his sub 10.6 speed no matter what.

TE- If Bellinger flips, then we have another spot to fill here. Demitri Washington here? He could also play stand up LB position here.

OL (1)- Seems we have one spot... Donovan Laie and Ralph Frias seem like the top guys

DL (2)- One more JC DT. Charles Cameron? Long Beach Poly's Jermayne Loyle could play end or DT here and I think he is a take no matter what. Coaches seem intrigued with Matt Lawson as well.

LB (1)- At least one more standup LB. Likely a JC guy here, but that most likely wont be Jordan Allen. Seems like he is headed to TCU.

DB- Think we are likely done here

Tuesday practice (Boise week)

RG Antonio Rosales watched drills off to the side again. His ankle has looked slightly better this week compared to recent weeks but there is still a semi limp there. His get off is better so I think he should play again.

LT Tyler Roemer has a slight limp too, but it doesn't look as bad as Rosales. He should be fine. Practiced fully during open portion.

LB Ronley Lakalaka (ankle) looked like he was getting another rest day.

DE Dakota Turner (neck), FB Nick Bawden and RT Ryan Pope (hand) all looked fine to me.

The fact that there are so many starters with minor injuries, in my mind, has to give the backups at their respective positions more reasons to play at a high level during practices.

Scout team QBs Cam Roane (No. 4) and Neil Boudreau (No. 3) changed jerseys numbers to replicate Boise St.'s QBs

Noticed WR Chaz Collins (injured) doing 22 pushups. Betting that's not a coincidence. #Win22

LB Andrew Aleki and Safety Willl Stricklin continue to look fantastic on special teams. Aleki made a nice punt block.

Isiah Macklin and Ethan Dedeaux both made sweet one-handed catches during 1v1s.

Macklin had to reach in front of him on a slant route. Dedaux ran a corner route toward the right side and used his right arm up above his head to bring it down.

There was a Titans scout at practice.

Kam Kelly's Tuesday pre practice huddle seemed to be about playing with 'heart' this week.

Monday updates (Boise State week)

New: LB Ryan Dunn was with the first team defense in placeof Ronley Lakalaka today (ankle).

Lakalaka was shadowing the defense back down the field where the secondary coaches usually watch from.

Tyler Morris and Kyavah Tezino were the second team second kevel line backers

Antonio Rosales didn't practice today. Watched the OL from the side.

Dom Gudino took his reps.

Nick Bawden did practice but he will continue to wear a club on his hand. During warmups it was cool to see him use his body to make a one handed catch in the flat on back to vack reps.

Ryan Pope (hand) practiced with a small club on his right hand. He looked good.

WR Tim Wilson (concussion/hand) is practicing again.

Parker Baldwin (knee) practiced.

Rashaad Penny is stil wearing the visor.

The traveling QB group is still Chapman, Agnew and Mark Salazar.

Garrett Binkley and Liam Cabrera were using crutches. Both wore right knee braces.

Chaz Collins didn't practice.

Didn't see Trenton Thompson (groin surgery last week). Will try to get a return timetable from Rocky today.

Another note: I didn't see Temerick Harper practicing but I'm going to guess he was out there somewhere because I didn't see him wuth the injured guys.
